BLUES COME BACK FALLS SHORT VERSUS BRONCOS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 3-2 in a shoot out to the Western Michigan Broncos in nonconference pre-season action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 4) in Kalamazoo, Mich.
 
The Blues overcame a late two-goal deficit late in the third period. Lane Werbowski got the Blues on the board when he sent a rocket from the point into the back of the net. Paul Van De Velde evened the score with 39 seconds remaining in regulation. Van De Velde picked up the puck in the slot off a bounce and beat the WMU goalie for the equalizer. 
 
The game went to a shoot out, with only one Western Michigan able to find the back of the net for the win.

The Varsity Blues continue to their road trip south of the border tomorrow (Oct. 5) as they head to Buffalo to take on Canisius College. Game time is set for 6:35 p.m.
