BLUES EDGE WARRIORS ON THE ROAD

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team edged the Waterloo Warriors 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Blues improve to 14-4-1 and remain in fourth place in the OUA standings. 

Third-year forward Sonja Weidenfelder opened the scoring with an unassisted marker midway through the first period and sophomore Kristi Riseley put the Blues up by two five minutes later. 

The Warriors got on the board 9:04 into the second frame with a powerplay goal from Rachel Marriott. Toronto held a 2-1 lead heading into the final frame.

Alie Brind'Amour-McClure extended U of T's lead early in the third period and despite a late powerplay goal from the Warriors, the Blues held on for their third straight victory.

Rookie goaltender Michaela Logan posted 11 saves in the win. 

The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, January 25 as they host the Brock Badgers in their annual Think Pink game at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
