The Varsity Blues women's tennis team defeated both the McGill Martlets and York Lions 5-2 this weekend (Sept. 14-15).
 
U of T opened the weekend with a dominant 7-0 win over UOIT and sit undefeated at 3-0 after the first weekend of action.
 
Fourth-year veteran Aya Bara (Vaughn, Ont.) led the Blues, winning both No. 1 matches versus McGill and York. Helen Goreski also won both of her singles matches, in the Nov. 4 spot versus the Martlets and No. 3 position versus the Lions.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, September 21 when they travel to Hamilton, Ont., to take on the McMaster Marauders. Matches are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
