The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team has a big weekend ahead as they host the Waterloo Warriors and Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 16-17) at Varsity Arena.
Saturday's game versus the Warriors is set for 4 p.m., while puck drop on Sunday is scheduled for 2 p.m. Advanced tickets for both games are on sale
here. Sunday's game will also be streamed live on GoBlues.tv.
Toronto is 6-2-1 and in fifth place, with one or two games in hand over all teams ahead of them. A four-point weekend could catapult the Blues into third place in the competitive OUA standings.
Fourth-year netminder Nicole Kesteris of Aurora, Ont., leads the OUA and ranks second in the country with an impressive .948 save percentage in seven games this season. U of T has allowed an OUA-leading 12 goals against in nine games.
Veteran forward Amanda Ricker (Ottawa) leads the team with three goals and seven assists. She is on a line with twin sisters Courtney and Ali Brind'Amour-McClure, who each have nine points in nine games.
Sophomore standout Taylor Day of Ilderton, Ont., tops the Blues in scoring with five goals so far in 2013-14.
The Warriors are 4-4-2 to start the season and sit in eighth place. They are led by Marissa Redmond and rookie Rachel Marriott, who each have six points. Rebecca Bouwhuis has assumed the starter's role between the pipes and holds a .920 save percentage in nine games.
Laurier is 8-2-0 and in third place. Devon Skeats and Laura Brooker lead the Hawks with 10 points apiece. Rookie goalie Amanda Smith has started eight games this season and holds a .928 percentage.Â
