BLUES BOUNCE BACK WITH SHUT OUT WIN OVER LAKERS

Box Score Four different players scored as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team defeated the Nipissing Lakers 4-0 on Sunday night at Memorial Gardens in North Bay, Ont.

With the win, the Blues improve to 4-1-1 and sit in fifth place, two points out of first place in the OUA standings.

Fifth-year defenceman and assistant captain Marlie McLaughlin (Ottawa) notched the eventual game-winner with a powerplay goal just 6:07 into the game.

Rookie forward Katerine Gale (Crowthorne, England) extended the lead two minutes later, notching her first career goal as a Varsity Blue.

Blues leading scorer Courtney Brind'Amour McClure (Waterdown, Ont.) added another with less than five minutes to go as U of T took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period, Arden Cowley also netted her first goal in the Blue and White, with an even-strength marker assisted by Brittany Kirby.

Fourth-year goalie Nicole Kesteris (Aurora, Ont.) made 16 saves in her second shut out win of the season.

The Varsity Blues return to the ice this Friday, November 1 as they host the Western Mustangs at Varsity Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
