BLUES EDGE NO. 9 GRYPHONS

Box Score Second-year forward Courtney Brind'Amour-McClure scored two goals, including the game-winner, in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team to a 3-2 road win over the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday, October 10.
 
With the win, the Blues improve to 2-1-0, while the Gryphons drop to 2-1-0 on the season. Both team are tied for first place with the UOIT Ridgebacks and Western Mustangs.

Guelph's Jessica Pinkerton opened the scoring 8:46 into the first period; however, the Blues were quick to rally as Brind'Amour-McClure (Waterdown, Ont.) notched the equalizer less than three minutes later.
 
Sophomore standout Taylor Day (Ilderton, Ont.) gave the Blues the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and Toronto carried the 2-1 lead into the third period.
 
The Gryphons evened it up at 2-2 with just 2:29 to go in the game, however, Brind'Amour-McClure came up with a huge game-winner 42 seconds later to help U of T notch their second win of the season.
 
Fourth-year goaltender Nicole Kesteris made 31 saves in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action this Sunday, October 13 as they travel to St. Catharines, Ont., to take on the Brock Badgers. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
