The Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team fell 18-2 to the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, September 29 at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
Toronto won the opening faceoff and controlled the first minute of play until Guelph’s defence created the first turnover of the game. Gryphon attackman, Mike Burked (Caledon, ON) scored at the 18:40 mark to get the ball rolling for Guelph. After goals from Jordan Critch (Orangeville, ON), Andrew Stoner (Orangeville, ON) and Joe Wasson (Peterborough, ON) Guelph was up 4-0 after the end of the first quarter.
Toronto had their opportunities in the quarter, as well as in the second but they could not solve the Gryphons defence.
Ahead 9-0 at the half, the Gryphons outscored Toronto 7-1 in the frame to take a 16-1 lead into the final quarter.
The Blues will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon as they head to Hamilton, Ont., to take on the McMaster Marauders. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
