The Varsity Blues women’s tennis team went 1-1 this weekend (Sept. 22-23), defeating the McMaster Marauders 4-2 on Saturday, before falling to the Western Mustangs 5-2 on Sunday.
The Blues took the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches versus the Marauders on Saturday. Cecilia Pye and Emily Kelsey came away with an 8-6 win in the No. 1 spot, while Julia Mansfield and Lianne Trachte won 8-4 in the third spot.
Kelsey, Mansfield and Poojah Chugh won the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 singles matches, respectively, to come away with the win.
Kelsey and Chugh paired up to take the No. 3 doubles match versus the Mustangs on Sunday afternoon at UTSC; however, Western took the No. 1 and No. 2 matches to gain the doubles point.
Steffi Wong was the only Varsity Blue to earn a singles win, defeating Chantal F. 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot.
The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, September 29 as they host the Montreal Carabins at UTSC.
