OUA DEFENDING CHAMPS RETURN TO VARSITY CENTRE

The Varsity Blues field hockey team host three games this weekend (Sept. 22-23) at Varsity Centre.
 
The Blues open the weekend versus the Western Mustangs on Saturday morning at 10:45 a.m., before taking on cross town rivals York Lions at 2:15 p.m.  Toronto then battles the McGill Martlets on Sunday at 10:45 a.m.
 
All games are free and open to the public.
 
U of T started their 2012 regular season campaign with two shut out victories over the Waterloo Warriors and Queen’s Gaels this past weekend. Both Tegan and Emma Stairs (Kitchener, Ont.), as well as Alex Thicke (North Vancouver, B.C.) each lead the OUA with two goals.
 
The Blues also return four-time CIS all-Canadian Kaelan Watson, 2011 OUA and CIS rookie of the year Amanda Woodcroft, as well as Blues 2011 leading scorer Ally Evanyshyn.
 
In addition, U of T hosts other OUA field hockey action at Varsity Centre this weekend, with a full schedule listed below.

12:30 p.m. Guelph vs Queen’s
2:15 p.m. Toronto vs York
4:00 p.m. Guelph vs McGill
 
Sept. 23
9:00 a.m. York vs Queen’s
10:45 a.m. McGill vs Toronto
12:30 p.m. Waterloo vs Western
2:15 p.m. Queen’s vs McGill
