Box Score The No. 9 women’s hockey team fell 3-2 to the York Lions on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 4) at Canlan Ice Sports in Toronto.
With the loss, the Blues drop to 7-2-1 and remain tied for second with the Laurier Golden Hawks in the OUA standings.
With the Lions leading 1-0 after the first period, team captain and Blues leading scorer Kelly O’Hanlon of Markham, Ont., got the Blues on the board 1:17 into the second frame.
The Lions went ahead five minutes later with the first of two goals from Kiri Langford; however, Toronto would even the score with a powerplay marker from third-year standout Amanda Ricker. The game remained deadlocked at 2-2 heading into the final frame.
Langford notched the eventual game-winner 5:31 into the third period and despite a 6-on-5 advantage for just over a minute, the Blues could not solve York goalie Megan Lee again.
The Varsity Blues continue their road stretch next Saturday, October 10 as they travel to Waterloo, Ont., to take on Laurier. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
