the Varsity Blues women's water polo team fell 6-5 to the host Carleton Ravens to earn the silver medal at the 2012 OUA championship (Nov. 23-25) in Ottawa.
Stephanie Watson led the Blues throughout the gold-medal match, scoring three goals and one in the shoot out. Danielle Hirsh added the other two on the night.
Tied 4-4 after regulation, the Ravens scored in the first overtime period, with the Blues once again evening the score to force the deciding shoot out. Carleton would take the shoot out 2-1 to earn the title.
The Varsity Blues wrapped up pool play with a 16-4 win over the Queen's Gaels on Sunday morning. Casey Pottier led the Blues with six goals, while Rosalee Brown had three and Danielle Ouellette scored two goals in the win.
