BLUES RETURN TO VARSITY ARENA THIS SUNDAY

After four weeks on the road, the Varsity Blues women’s hockey team hosts the Ryerson Rams this Sunday, November 25 at Varsity Arena at 6 p.m.

Toronto caps off their six-game road stretch at Queen’s this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Blues are coming off a narrow 3-2 loss to the No. 10 Gryphons, and currently sit in sixth place with an 8-4-1 record.

Only three points separate third and sixth in the highly competitive OUA standings, making this weekend’s games crucial if the Blues want to climb the standings.

The Blues are the only team to have beaten the No. 5 Gaels (11-1-1) in regulation so far this season. Toronto defeated Queen’s 1-0 in their home opener on Oct. 6 at Varsity Arena.

U of T fell to the Rams, 2-1 in a shootout, in their season opener on Oct. 5 at Mattamy Centre. Since then, the Rams have struggled, currently sitting in 10th place with a 2-10-0 record.

Varsity Blues team captain Kelly O’Hanlon (Markham, Ont.) continues to shine, leading the team and ranking second in OUA scoring with 10 goals.

Second-year goaltender Krista Funke of Regina ranks second in the OUA with a 0.947 save percentage, while third-year netminder and Aurora, Ont., native Nicole Kesteris has a 0.919 percentage in six games.

Tickets to Sunday’s game are on sale in advance here.
