BLUES FALL TO FIRST-PLACE BADGERS

The Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team fell 13-2 in a rain-soaked match against the Brock Badgers on Sunday, October 14 at Varsity Centre.

Brock’s Jordan Weedmark netted five goals in the match.

Toronto’s offence struggled in the first quarter, and the Blues defence was tested frequently by the Badgers. Despite their best efforts, the defence allowed three goals including Weedmark’s first two of the game.

Brock’s offence continued to produce in the second quarter with goals for Mark Vradenberg (Ottawa), Weedmark, and Dustin Dunn (Peterborough, Ont.).

The Blues netted their first of two points on a goal by Michael Buwalda (Scarborough, Ont.) in the 14th minute of the second. Toronto went into the half, trailing the Badgers 6-1.

Brock’s offence did not let up in the second half. Marc Anthony Koukoulas (Walpole, Mass.) scored Varsity’s second goal in the third.

With the win, Brock (9-1-0) takes sole possession of first place while Toronto (3-7-0) remains in fourth place in the CUFLA western standings.

The Varsity Blues next game is on Saturday, October 20 against Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ont. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
