The Varsity Blues women’s lacrosse team defeated the UOIT Ridgebacks 12-4 and edged the Brock Badgers 10-9 on Saturday, October 13 in Waterloo, Ont.
 
Second-year midfielder Katie McCurdy (Orillia, Ont.) led the Blues with six goals versus UOIT. The Blues built a 6-3 lead at halftime and held the Ridgebacks to a single goal in the second half.
 
Kaitlyn Sandy scored a hatrick, with Carly Heitner, Kelly Robinson and Susan Tung rounding out the score with single tallies.
 
The Blues overcame a 6-4 halftime deficit to defeat the Badgers in the second game of the day. Heitnzer and Mary Anne Meerasabeer notched three goals each, with McCurdy, Sandy, Tung and Robinson each adding single goals in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, October 20 as they travel to Oshawa, Ont., to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks. Game time is set for 8 a.m.
