BLUES FALL PREY TO HAWKS

Fourth-year veteran David Stockton the lone try for the Varsity Blues men’s rugby team in a  27-7 losing effort to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday evening (Sep. 18) at  Varsity Centre.
 
With the loss, the Blues remain in a four-way tie for last place in the standings and fall to an 0-3 record, while the Golden Hawks improve to 1-2 and are in a three-way tie for third place.
 
A native of Vancouver, B.C., Stockton scored one try for the Blues, while Nicholas Smith of Mississauga, Ont., added two points off a convert.
 
Laurier was led by Jeff Pickle’s game-high 10 points, while Alexander Wilcox-Bogart, Jason Hatzes and Kenneth Jackson each scored once in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action on Saturday, October 1 when they travel to take on the RMC Paladins in Kingston. The game begins at 3 p.m.
