The Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team dropped their final game of the 2011-12 regular season, 18-7, to the Bishop’s Gaiters on Sunda,y October 23 at U of T’s Back Campus.
The loss ends the Blues three-game winning streak and leaves them with a 6-4-0 record and third-place finish in the CUFLA Eastern conference.
Toronto will now host the fourth-seeded Carleton Ravens next Saturday, October 29 at Varsity Centre. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Tyler Weber finished the season strongly, recording two goals and an assist in the loss. The Toronto native ends the season with 28 goals and 39 points to lead the Blues in both categories.
Michael Buwalda (Toronto) also netted two goals, and Windsor, Ont., native Will Dunlop scored a goal and added an assist as the two players finished the season with 26 points apiece.
Bishop’s wasted little time taking the lead, and led the Blues 9-2 after the first half. U of T’s offence would pick up later in the game, but the Gaiter’s equaled their first half goal output with another nine en route to a first place finish in the CUFLA.
Mike Dube and Josh Crone each registered five points to lead the Gaiter’s to victory and earn themselves positions one and two in league scoring. Dube finishes the season with 47 points, and Crone with 46.
