BLUES FALL TO GAITERS ON THE ROAD

Daniel Fleming registered five points is a losing effort as the Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team surrendered fell 13-9 to the Bishop’s Gaiters on Sunday, October 2 in Montreal.

The Blues (3-3) loss allows the Gaiters (3-1) to draw even with them for second place in the East with six points apiece.

Fleming led the offence with two goals and three assists, while Toronto native Tyler Weber also continued to put up points, scoring a goal and adding three assists. Weber and Fleming are now one-and-two on the Blues in points, with 25 and 21, respectively.

The Blues also got two-goal performances from Andrew Kerr (Clarington, Ont.) and Jordan Robertson (Toronto).

For the second straight game, the Blues held the lead after the first quarter but the Gaiters would score four goals in the second—including powerplay markers from Andrew MacKay and Jesse Gattellaro—to even the score. Bishops would then outscore the Blues 7-3 the rest of the way to secure the win.

The Blues are back on the field on Saturday, October 8 when they return home to take on the Queen’s Gaels at Varsity Centre. Game time is 7 pm.
