The Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team completed a home-and-home sweep of the Trent Excalibur on Sunday, October 16 with a 14-9 victory at Varsity Centre.
The win moves the Blues (6-3) into a share of second place in the East with Bishop’s (6-1).
Tyler Weber led the charge offensively for the Blues. The Toronto native scored four goals and added two assists to help secure the victory. Weber now has 26 goals this season, and sits among the leaders in goal scoring in the CUFLA.
Will Dunlop (Windsor, Ont.) also continued his recent point streak with two goals and three assists, while Toronto natives Daniel Fleming and Michael Buwalda each had hat tricks.
The Excalibur jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter after Sean McGee scored immediately after the opening face-off, but there was little time for Blues fans to worry as U of T scored three straight goals at the midway point of the first quarter to take a lead that they would not give up the rest of the way.
Travis Szabolcs led Trent with four points in the losing effort.
The Blues return to action next Sunday, October 23 when host the Bishop’s Gaiters in their final game of the regular season at U of T’s Back Campus. Game time is 2 p.m.
