The Varsity Blues women’s lacrosse team defeated the UOIT Ridgebacks 12-7 on Sunday, October 16 in Hamilton, Ont.

Veteran midfielder Taryn Grieder of Cobourg, Ont., scored five goals and added one assist, while fourth-year attacker and Peterborough, Ont., native Susan Tung had two goals and three assists on the day.

Katie McCurdy scored three goals, while Sarah Woodward and Tori Wasson added single tallies in the win.

Toronto and UOIT remained deadlocked at 5-5 at halftime, but the Blues shut the Ridgebacks down in the second half, outscoring them 7-3 for the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action next weekend (Oct. 21-23) as they head to Guelph, Ont. for the 2011 OUA women’s lacrosse championship.
