BLUES FALL TO NO. 2 GOLDEN HAWKS

The Varsity Blues women’s hockey team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday, January 23 at Sun Life Arena in Waterloo, Ont.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 12-10-0 and remain in fourth place, while the Golden Hawks improve to 20-1-1 and sit atop the OUA standings.

Laurier scored three first-period goals to quickly gain a lead that would not diminish. Toronto’s lone goal of the contest came 23 seconds into the second period off the stick of first-year forward Amanda Ricker.

Melissa Muir and Katherine Williams saw action in net for the Blues, both making 13 saves in the losing cause.

The Varsity Blues return to the ice next Saturday, January 29 when they travel to Windsor, Ont., to take on the Lancers. Game time is set for 4:10 p.m.
