CARABINS GET PAST BLUES

The Varsity Blues men’s tennis team fell 6-1 to the Montreal Carabins on Sunday, September 19 at Scarborough Campus.

Montreal took the doubles point*, as only U of T’s Eren Turkmenler and Andrei Melchisedec were able to defeat their Carabins counterparts, 8-1, in the number three position.

Montreal handily won the number one and two singles matches, before Toronto’s Artur Suski narrowly fell to Jean Trottier 7-6, 6-0 in the number three position. Turkmenler took Marc Leonard to three games before falling 1-6, 6-3, 7-6, while Melchisedec dropped a 7-6, 7-5 decision in the number five spot.

Cyrus Elmpackmackie accounted for the Blues lone singles win in the number six position, defeating Romain Lenclos 6-2, 6-4.

The Varsity Blues return to the court this Friday, September 24 when they host the UOIT Ridgebacks at Scarborough Campus. Matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

*Scoring: Score 1 point per match win for singles and 1 point for the team winning 2 or 3
doubles matches, for a total of 7 points
