The Varsity Blues mens lacrosse team dropped a 9-5 decision to the Trent Excalibur on Saturday, October 16 in Peterborough, Ont.
Toronto opened the scoring through Will Dunlop (Toronto) in the first quarter; however, Trent leveled the score within 30 seconds. The Blues responded at 8:43 with a goal by Mike Ayotte of Peterborough, Ont., only to have the Excalibur pull even with two minutes remaining in the quarter.
Trent dominated the second quarter with four unanswered goals and went into half time leading 6-2.
The Blues scored four minutes into the third with Dunlop potting his second of the game. Trent tallied at the seven minute mark. and Toronto ended with a late goal by Daniel Flemming to cut the gap to three.
The Excalibur scored early in the fourth but Toronto responded quickly with an unassisted goal by Matthew Hoskins (Ocho Rios, JAM). Trent added one more at the nine-minute mark to round out the 9-5 win.
The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow when they host the Queen’s Gaels at Back Campus. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
