The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team fell to the McGill Redmen 17-3 on Sunday, September 20 at the University of Toronto’s Back Campus field.
The Redmen dominated the first half, making it difficult for the Blues to convert on any scoring opportunities. McGill held an 11-0 lead at the midway point of the game.
The Blues finally got on the board when second-year arts and science student Andrew Kerr (Clarington, Ont.) beat McGill goaltender Guy Fox (Glen Rock, N.J.) at the 12:12 mark in the third quarter.
Matthew Hoskins (Ocho Rios, JAM) and Mike Ayotte (Peterborough, Ont.) each scored in the fourth quarter for the Blues.
Alex Kruse (Oakville, Ont.) led the Redmen with one goal and five assists.
Ayotte had one goal and one assist in the Toronto loss.
The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, September 26 when they travel to Montreal for a rematch against the Redmen. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
