MEN’S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO MARAUDERS 3-1

The University of Toronto fell to the McMaster Marauders 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 25-15, 25-9) on Saturday, November 28 in Hamilton, Ont.

An outstanding effort from the Blues would allow them to take one game from the No. 4 Marauders. However, McMaster showed their strength, beating the Blues across three sets to secure the win.

Mitchell Woodside (Clyde River, P.E.I) led the Blues with 10 kills and four digs, while Matthew Stefanoff (Unionville, Ont.) followed with five kills and four digs. Setter Deagan MacDonald (Calgary, Alta.) tallied 22 assists in the loss.

Jeremy Groenveld (Welland, Ont.) was the top player for the Marauders with 13 kills and seven digs. Paul Podstawka (Ancaster, Ont.) also posted impressive numbers with 11 kills and seven digs in the victory.

The Varsity Blues head into the holiday break with a 4-6 record and sit in tied for seventh place in the OUA standings.

U of T travels to Kamloops, B.C. for an exhibition game versus Thompson Rivers University on Wednesday, December 30. The game is set for 8 p.m.
