TRENT TRUMPS TORONTO IN MEN'S LACROSSE

In a close, low-scoring game, the University of Toronto Varsity Blue’s men’s lacrosse team came up on the short end of a 9-4 decision to the Trent Excalibur on Sunday, October 4 at U of T’s Back Campus field.

Mack O’Brien (Peterborough, Ont.) opened the scoring in the first two minutes of the opening quarter to give the Excalibur an early 1-0 lead. Third-year attacker Will Dunlop (Toronto, Ont.) answered for the Blues with less than two minutes to play in the opening frame to knot things up at one.

The Excalibur started to put the pressure on in the second but the Blues managed to hold their ground, going goal-for-goal with the visitors, and found themselves tied three all at the half.

The second half was a different story as Trent scored six out of the next seven goals to put this one out of reach for Toronto.

Dunlop (2), Marc Anthony Koukoulas (Boston, Mass.) and Andrew Kerr (Clarington, Ont.) each tallied for Toronto.

O’Brien, Sean McGee (Brampton, Ont.) and Tyler Warren (Welland, Ont.) scored two goals apiece for the Excalibur.

The Varsity Blues men’s lacrosse team is back at home to take on the Queen’s Gaels on October 17th. Game time is 2pm at Back Campus field.
