The University of Toronto men's tennis claimed the bronze medal at the 2009 OUA tennis championships on Sunday, Oct. 18 at University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) in Oshawa, Ont.

The Blues bounced back from a 5-2 semi-final loss the top-seed York Lions on Saturday to defeat the Western Mustangs 7-0 in the bronze-medal match.

Toronto's OUA all-star Stefan Srnic (Belgrade, Serbia) led the Blues charge, handily defeating Western's number one Thomas Young (Ottawa) in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. Srnic also paced the number one doubles team to an 8-2 victory over their Western counterpart.

The Blues weren't as lucky on Saturday afternoon. Srnic was shut out in both doubles and singles matches. Dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision to York's number one Mikhail Lew (Caracas, VEN) and an 8-5 loss to the Lions number one doubles team.

Chris Ma (Toronto) did all he could in the number two singles spot, defeating Lions number two Stan Faynberg (Richmond Hill) 6-2, 6-4. However, that wouldn't be enough as the Lions moved on to the championship match, leaving the defending OUA champs to play for the bronze.
