WOMEN'S GOLF 2008 YEAR IN REVIEW

The Varsity Blues women’s golf team earned a bronze medal at the 2008 OUA championship tournament. The Blues finished behind the four-time champions Western Mustangs and just three strokes behind the runners-up from the University of Waterloo.

Danielle Greene claimed her third consecutive individual gold medal at the OUA championships in Hamilton, Ont. She was tied for the lead following a fabulous opening round of 72, and then pulled away from the field with a final round of 78 in frigid and windy conditions to claim the title.

Greene was named an OUA first team all-star for her stellar 2008 campaign.

Fourth-year Blues player Sarah Devonshire had her best result at the OUA championships, finishing in a tie for tenth place, while Jane Jhung had the third best score in the field of the final round to help the Blues' cause.

The Blues finished second at the Queen’s Invitational (Sept. 22), fifth at the Waterloo Invitational (Oct. 4-5) and third at the Guelph Invitational (Oct.6) throughout the season.

Greene and Jhung were Toronto’s top two golfers throughout the year. Greene picked up an individual gold medal at Guelph and a second-place finish at Queen’s, while Jhung led the Blues in Waterloo, finishing in ninth place.
