MEN REMAIN UNDEFEATED, WOMEN FALL TO MUSTANGS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s and women’s tennis teams travelled to Oshawa, Ont. to take on the Western Mustangs on Saturday, September 20.

The men’s team recorded a 6-1 victory and were led by former Mustang Rob Schmidt (London, Ont.). Schmidt won his singles match and then joined first-year Bedford, N.S. native Cameron Starratt to win their doubles match. Toronto is now tied for first place with the York Lions and the University of Montreal.

On the women’s side, the Varsity Blues fell to the Western Mustangs 4-3. Four-time OUA gold medalist Ekaterina Alchits returned to action for the Blues and first-year sensation Emma Ferguson (London, ENG) recorded her second win in a row in OUA singles play.

The Blues return to action tomorrow (Sept. 21) as they face the Waterloo Warriors at 9 a.m. at York University.
