2020 Olympian Gabe Mastromatteo won four gold medals and earned one silver and one bronze in leading the Varsity Blues men’s swimming team to their 19th straight OUA banner this past weekend.

The second-year commerce major won the 50 breaststroke in an OUA record time of 27.60 seconds, while also touching the wall first in his signature 100 breaststroke event (1:01.05).

Mastromatteo helped the Blues go gold-medal finishes in both the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays. The native of Kenora, Ont., earned individual silver in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.51) and bronze in the 50 butterfly (24.81) and was named the OUA male swimmer of the year for his efforts.
