Second-year standout Nirun Sivananthan scored two goals, including the game-winner, in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s soccer team to a 3-0 upset win over the No. 3 Ryerson Rams on Saturday (Sept. 27).
Â
The Brampton, Ont., native opened the scoring in the 19th minute when he got behind the Rams back line and slotted home his second of the season.
Â
Sivananthan notched an insurance marker, the third goal of the game, in the 64th minute when he beat two Rams defenders to find the back of the net.
Â
The win snapped the Rams 35-game regular season win streak, dating back to September 2, 2012. It also marks the first time a team has scored more than three goals against Ryerson Oct. 16, 2011.Â
