A second-year goalie from Port Coquitlam, B.C., Valencia Yordanov combined for 59 saves in backstopping the Varsity Blues women’s hockey team to two big wins at home this past weekend.
 
The physics major made 30 saves, including 14 in the third period, as the Blues defeated the Windsor Lancers 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Varsity Arena.
 
Yordanov followed that up with a 29-save performance as Toronto topped the No. 8 nationally ranked Western Mustangs 2-0 on Sunday. It marked Yordanov’s third shutout of the season. She currently ranks second among OUA goaltenders with a .946 save percentage.
