Shelby Reid, a PhD in medical science candidate from Oxbow, Sask., helped lead the Varsity Blues fastpitch team to a 5-1 record in their opening weekend.

She notched 11 hits, holding a .523 batting average and got on base 13 times (.565) over the six-game weekend.

Reid held a .857 slugging percentage, hitting three doubles, two triples, stealing one base and recording nine RBI.
