Paul Poirier won the men’s open free skate in leading the Varsity Blues to an overall bronze medal at the 2012 OUA figure skating championship, Feb. 16-17, in London, Ont.

The 2011 Canadian champion and 2010 Olympian  finished ahead of McMaster’s Eric Ritter and Guelph’s Franis Adamo.  A native of Unionville, Ont., Poirier’s performance helped lift the Toronto team onto the podium after three consecutive fourth-place finishes.
