Second-year forward Russell Turner notched six points in helping the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s hockey team to a series sweep over the fourth-place Ryerson Rams this past week.
 
A native of Jasper, Alta., Turner scored both goals in Toronto’s 2-1 Game 1 victory at Mattamy Athletic Centre on Wednesday night.
 
The conservation biology major opened the scoring when he tipped in a Lane Werbowski point shot, and then notched the eventual game-winner four minutes later, wiring a hard shot past Rams netminder Troy Passingham.
 
Turner added four assists in U of T’s 6-4 Game 2 win on Saturday night at Varsity Arena. He tallied one assist per period, including setting up the eventual game-winner.
 
Turner helped the Blues to their first playoff series win since 2007.
