Third-year forward Tegan Stairs tallied a team-high three goals in leading the Varsity Blues to a CIS silver medal at the 2012 national field hockey championship this past weekend at the University of Toronto.
The Kitchener, Ont., native and 2012 CIS all-Canadian scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Victoria that punched Toronto’s ticket into the McCrae Cup final.
Stairs scored in two different games, while also assisting U of T’s lone goal in a 1-1 draw with the No. 1 and eventual champion UBC Thunderbirds.
The criminology major was recognized as a member of the CIS tournament XI for her offensive prowess over the weekend.
