First-year pitcher Andy Orfanakos was named the most valuable player after leading the Varsity Blues baseball team to their second consecutive OUA title this past weekend in St. Catharines, Ont.
The Toronto native threw eight innings, allowing no runs on seven hits while striking out two as the fourth-ranked Blues defeated the host and top-seeded Brock Badgers 4-0 to claim the banner.
A first-year education student, Orfanakos also picked up the save in Toronto’s come-from-behind 6-5 victory over second-seeded Guelph Gryphons in Game 2 of the championship.
The Blues become only the second team in baseball history to repeat as OUA champions (Western, 2005-07).
