University of Toronto Varsity Blues football player Kevin Bradfield was taken 55th overall by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2015 CFL Draft on Tuesday night.
Bradfield's selection marks the fourth time in the past five seasons that a Varsity Blues player has been selected in the Canadian draft. Defensive back Hugo Lopez was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos (14th overall) in 2011, while linebacker Wilkerson DeSouza was taken in the sixth round in 2012. Four Varsity Blues in Aaron Milton, Alex Pierzchalski, Aaron Wheaton and Christopher Johnson were drafted in 2014.
A 2013 CIS all-Canadian, Bradfield (Toronto) has etched his named into U of T's record book, currently holding school records in career punt returns and punt return yardage, as well as most punt returns (59) and punt return yardage in a season. He led all players in the CIS in punt return yardage in 2013.
This past fall, the Toronto native ranked second on the Blues 48 receptions for 603 yards in eight games.Â
