Costa joined the Blues coaching staff in 2020 after seven seasons with the McMaster Marauders. He was an assistant coach with McMaster's men's soccer team from 2013-18 and women's soccer team from 2017-18, before serving the 2019 season as the Marauders women's soccer head coach, guiding the team to a 7-5-2 regular season record.   A five-year student-athlete with the Marauders between 2007-11, Costa helped McMaster to OUA titles in 2009 and 2011 and received the Dr. Ray Johnson Award as the University's outstanding graduating male athlete. He was named an OUA first team all-star and U SPORTS first team all-Canadian in his final season, and was a finalist for McMaster's Ivor Wynne award, which recognizes the University's male athlete of the year.
He currently works alongside Blues associate head coach Angelo Cavalluzzo with the Markham Alliance L1 and L1R women's teams, and helped coach the first team to a silver medal in the 2022 L1 Ontario season, as well as a bronze medal in the L1 Canada inter-provincial championship.  Â
