The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Quincie Szego to the women's basketball team for the 2026-27 season.

"U of T is a perfect fit for me because of their commitment to competing, developing and building a strong team culture," said Szego. "I immediately felt welcomed by the team on my visit and impressed by the talented coaching staff who will make me better. On top of being part of a strong basketball program, I will have the opportunity to earn a degree at a world class university. Go Blues!"

A 5-foot-10 guard from Toronto, Szego joins the Blues via Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School and Toronto Triple Threat.

A strong ball-handler, Szego has an impressive ability to drive on the offensive end of the court while also having a keen eye for intercepting passing lanes on the defensive end. Her hard work has been rewarded with each team she has competed with, earning junior athlete of the year honours with Central Toronto Academy (2023-24) and rookie of the year recognition with the Redmond Redhawks (2024-25). She has additional support from those with high-level experience as both her mother and grandfather have played for the Canadian national team.

An honour roll student and JUEL Prep Top Student-Athlete recipient, Szego is interested in studying life sciences at the University of Toronto.

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
