The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Natashia Recuenco to the women's basketball team for the 2026-27 season.

"I chose University of Toronto for its reputation as one of the top academic institutions in the world," said Recuenco. "Being able to play high-level basketball while obtaining an education here has been my dream since I was 10."

A 5-foot-5 guard from Oakville, Recuenco joins the Blues via St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School and Halton Region JUEL

An exceptional athlete, Recuenco has been recognized for her outstanding ability with both her high school and club teams. With the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders she was named basketball team MVP in back-to-back seasons while also contributing on the track with the relay team, qualifying for OFSAA in both the 4x100m and 4x400m. This earned her Junior Sportswoman of the Year honours. With her Halton JUEL team she has been named MVP on multiple occasions, a first team all-star, and an all-defensive player. She helped her team to U16 and U17 provincial championships.

An honour roll student throughout high school, Recuenco is set to study Life Sciences at U of T beginning this fall.

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
