The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Chidimma Chukwuneyerenwa to the women's basketball team for the 2026-27 season.

A 5-foot-10 forward from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Chukwuneyerenwa joins the Blues via Monsignor McCoy High School and Outlaws & Renegades Basketball Club.

"I chose U of T for a few reasons. Firstly, because it’s one of the top schools in the country, and I’ve always envisioned myself at such an institution," said Chukwuneyerenwa. "Beyond that, U of T has excellent athletic programs which support my goals as a basketball player. I’ve always wanted to live out east, especially in Toronto, and schooling at the St. George campus keeps me in the heart of the city. But above all, the biggest reason is faith. After praying and reflecting, I truly felt a peace in my heart that U of T is where I’m meant to be."

Chukwuneyerenwa has been a standout with the McCoy Colts. Throughout her high school career she is a two-time first team league all-star and 3A player of the year. She additionally earned rookie of the year honours in her debut season, and is a multi-time tournament MVP. An exceptional athlete, she also holds zone and city records in the girl's shot put.

Receiving academic honours in high school, including the Gold Cord, Chukwuneyerenwa is set to study Life Sciences at U of T beginning in September 2026.

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
