Irv Daymond

Irv Daymond joined the U of T coaching staff in March, 2019 after six seasons as the offensive line coach with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. There, Daymond was a part of a coaching staff that helped rebuild a stifled program and then led the Hawks to league-best 7-1 record in 2016, through to a clutch 43-40 Yates Cup win over the Western University Mustangs.

A two-time OUA all-star and 1985 CIS (now U SPORTS) all-Canadian while a student at Western, Daymond was selected in the sixth round of the 1984 CFL draft by the BC Lions. He moved on and played 10 seasons for the Ottawa Rough Riders (1986-1995) where he was twice named the Rough Rider Citizen of the Year (1990, 1991) as well as being named a CFL East all-star in 1992.

Daymond has also been very active, volunteering his time to coach all levels of the sport. Most notably as the offensive line coach for Team Ontario, 2013-19, the O-line coach for Football Canada’s U16 squad (2018) and prior to that, Daymond was a member of the uOttawa Gee-Gees coaching staff from 2006-11.
