The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the commitment of Mutsawashe Musiyiwa to the field hockey program for the 2026 season.

A 5-foot-3 defender from Harare, Zimbabwe, Musiyia joins the Blues via Hellenic Academy and Sagittus.

"I chose U of T because the people seem to have great vibes and the environment just feels right," said Musiyiwa. "It’s somewhere I can grow in class and on the field."

An versatile athlete, Musiyiwa earned first team honours as a member of her high school field hockey, indoor hockey, and tennis teams. She also received the Coach's Player Award in 2024. With her club team she helped to win the provincial ACC tournament. She also won the U18 PSI in 2023 and again in 2024 as a team captain. Musiyiwa has been a consistent presence on the Zimbabwe national team, competing at the U16, U18, and U21 levels, including most recently at the Jr. World Cup in Chile. When team captain with the U18 squad, the national team won the Namibia-Zambia-Zimbabwe series.

A terrific leader and student, Musiyiwa is set to study Actuarial Science at U of T beginning this fall.

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
