Athletes must demonstrate and will be evaluated on the following:
• Technical skills: shooting in game situations, passing – demonstrate right decision making ability within team structure, dribbling – taking care of the ball limiting turnovers and ability to get by your defender, and the ability to defend – guard your position 1 on 1 without needing help
• Physical attributes: lateral movement, jumping, quickness, sprinting, balance and coordination;
• Potential for development – one who has the time to work on their game, one who has an honest sense of where their skills currently are and where they need to be;
• Competitiveness in practice and games – must compete at a high level at all times;
• Commitment and outstanding work ethic in practices, individual workouts and games;
• Communication skills with other student-athletes, coaches, and all other support staff;
• Fitness level;
• Leadership skills, perseverance, and coachability;
• Being a student of the game - understanding concepts and proves to have the ability to learn and compete within a system;
• Needs of team: positional needs and positional suitability, short term/immediate vs long term/future program needs;
• The ability to make all the right choices in representing the Blues basketball program and the University - reflecting a winning attitude on the court, off the court and in the classroom.
- Be available to attend team practices and weight room sessions Monday 1-4pm, Tuesday 1-3 pm, Wednesday 3:30-6:30pm, Thursday 8-10am, Friday 10am-12pm.
*Final team selection will occur by Tuesday September 8, 2026.
