Opening their 2026 OUA invitational season at the Guelph Lakes Golf and Country Club on Friday (Sept. 11), the University of Toronto Varsity Blues saw Mia Wong claim the women's individual title and the women together earn the team victory.
A third-year veteran of the Varsity Blues golf team, Wong earned a one-stroke victory with a score of 75 on the day. The defending OUA individual champion delivered the lowest score among 42 total women competing at the kickoff event. Fellow Varsity Blues Mia Sung and Cindy Xiao notched rounds of 82 to finish in a tie for 11th, while the trios total score of 239 proved to be three strokes better than the next to claim the team victory.
For the men, U of T finished seventh among the 11 teams entered for the first invitational of the season recording a team score of 298. First-year Blue Shao Liu delivered the top performance of the day for U of T with a round of 72, placing him in a tie for 12th. One stroke back was fifth-year veteran Ben MacLean with a 73. U of T's scores were rounded out by Jordan Hutchings with a 79 and Alessandro Di Felice with an 83.
Next Sunday (Sept. 20) Toronto will continue their competition schedule with the Brock Invitational. The annual showcase is set to once again take place at Sawmill Golf Club in Fenwick, Ont.
