BLUES OPEN PRESEASON VERSUS LAMBTON LIONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team were back on the diamond at Dan Lang Field to open their 2026 preseason campaign with a nine-inning exhibition versus the Lambton Lions of the OCAA.

A Thursday morning contest, the Blues fell by a final score of 13-4. The goal for Toronto was clearly evaluation as 18 different U of T players took to the batters' box in the exhibition match, while seven different pitchers were used across the nine-inning contest.

Members of the Blues provincial and national championship roster a season ago, both Marcus Santos (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R) and Diego Fuentes (2-3) were standouts with two hits apiece. Incoming Blue, Aidan Vivaldi also flashed scoring a run while also notching two strikeouts during a one-inning stint on the mound.

The Blues continue their exhibition schedule this weekend welcoming the Laurier Golden Hawks, Laurentian Voyageurs, and Queen's Gaels to UTSC for the annual preseason tournament. The first game is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 29) morning and will feature the host Varsity Blues versus the Golden Hawks.
