MAJOR AWARD NOMINEES: WOMEN'S T-HOLDERS' ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Varsityblues.ca will highlight the nominees of U of T's major awards – men's and women's rookies of the year, Dr. Clara Benson honour award, George M. Biggs trophy, as well as the men's and women's Frank Pindar and T-Holders' athletes of the year - to be announced at the Varsity Blues Awards Gala on Friday, March 27.

The following Varsity Blues athletes were nominated by their coaches and chosen through the awards selection process as finalists for the women's T-Holders' athlete of the year, presented annually to the athlete who has exhibited the highest degree of athletic excellence (in alphabetical order):

Julia Agostinelli - Track & Field / Cross Country
Competing at four different championships this season, Agostinelli earned both OUA all-star and U SPORTS All-Canadian honours on multiple occasions. Beginning in the fall with the Varsity Blues cross country team, the Physical Therapy major from London placed second at the OUA Championships and fourth at the U SPORTS Championships. Then shifting to the track, Agostinelli earned two gold medals at the provincial showcase, winning both the 1000m and 1500m, while adding silver with her teammates in the 4x800m relay. Finally, at the U SPORTS National Championships she would add two more silvers to her season tally in the 1000m and 1500m.

Hannah Chown - Soccer
Chown, a Teaching major from Mississauga, rounded out her five season Varsity Blues career making history. She would be a key contributor to U of T's first ever OUA championship banner in women's soccer, serving as a team captain and shutdown defender. Along with thwarting the top strikers from across the province, she also added two goals and three assists on the other end of the pitch, including scoring the game-winning goal in the OUA gold medal match. Her efforts earned her OUA all-star, OUA MVP, and U SPORTS All-Canadian recognition.

Julia Liu - Volleyball
Liu shined as an offensive force for the Blues during the 2025-26 campaign. Appearing in all 20 matches, the Commerce student from Ottawa would finish fourth in the OUA averaging 3.61 kills per set and fifth with 4.2 points per set. With a powerful swing on the outside, Liu improved in every statistical category from her already impressive rookie campaign a season ago. Recording double-digit points in all but two matches, her season was highlighted by a season-high 22 kills and 24 points in an upset of the nationally ranked Brock Badgers in late-January.

Nina Mollin - Swimming
Mollin served as a major factor in the Varsity Blues women's swimming team defending their provincial title and earning national silver this season.  A Health and Disease, Biology, and Physiology student from Schaumburg, Illinois, Mollin was named OUA Female Swimmer of the Year and an OUA all-star after winning three individual gold medals (200m butterfly, 200m IM, 100m butterfly), one relay gold in OUA record time (4x100m medley), two OUA grand slams (200m butterfly, 200m IM), and the IM Excellence Award. She then followed that up with a U SPORTS All-Canadian performance at the national championships winning two individual gold (200m butterfly, 200m IM), one individual bronze (100 butterfly), and a 10th career U SPORTS medal with relay bronze (4x100m medley).

Maggie Mullins - Field Hockey
Earning U SPORTS first team All-Canadian honours for the first time in her U of T career, Mullins was a critical piece to the Blues game plan providing tremendous leadership and serving as a defensive stopper. An English major from Charlottetown, P.E.I., she appeared in and started all eight regular season games this fall, turning aside opponent attacks while spearheading Toronto's transition offence. Also contributing two goals from her defensive position, she would receive OUA all-star recognition. Mullins also appeared in both postseason games for the Blues, helping U of T claim a provincial silver medal.

Abby Whitworth - Hockey
A Commerce major from Port Moody, B.C., Whitworth was one of the best offensive forces from across the country this season. She led the entire province and ranked third in all of U SPORTS with 20 goals, becoming the first Varsity Blue to lead the OUA in goals since 2007-08. This included six power play markers and four game-winning goals, as well as nine assists to total 29 points in 26 regular season games. She would additionally lead the Blues in postseason scoring, adding three goals and two assists in their OUA quarter-final series. Her spectacular season would be rewarded with OUA first team all-star and U SPORTS second team All-Canadian recognition.
