The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team capped of the 2025-26 season with a 68-53 win over the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Sunday (Feb. 15) afternoon at Goldring Centre – Kimel Family Field House.
The Blues were dominant in the first half, holding Lakehead to 17 and 22 per cent shooting in the first two quarters while outrebounding them 26-18. Defensively, the Blues forced seven turnovers and brought a 13-point lead into halftime after a buzzer beater from third-year guard Faith Joseph. The Thunderwolves pushed back in the third quarter, outscoring Toronto 20-15. Despite a last-ditch effort, U of T's strong rebounding and tight defence that forced Lakehead to kiss key shots late was the difference maker in a double-digit win.
Leading the way for the Blue and White was fourth-year forward Janet Enge with a 30-point 11-rebound double-double. The Yellowknife native shot 80 per cent from beyond the arc and over 66 per cent from the field. Second-year forward Dianna Comsa added 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Meanwhile, fourth-year forward Gabrielle Reed had eight points, eight rebounds and was a presence in the paint with two blocks.
For Lakehead, Ally Burke led the way with a team-high 14 points and added eight rebounds and two assists. Eva Guilera notched eight points and seven rebounds.
U of T concludes the 2025-26 season with a 6-16 record, a four-win improvement on the previous season. The Blues head into the offseason continuing to build off of momentum they have garnered and make a push towards the OUA postseason in 2026-27.
