BLUES CAP OFF REGULAR SEASON WITH A WIN OVER LAKEHEAD

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 90-80 win over the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves on Sunday (Feb. 15) afternoon at Goldring Centre – Kimel Family Field House.

U of T shot 50 per cent from the field in the first half, after a slow start from beyond the arc in the first quarter, the Blues shot 57 per cent on three-pointers in the second quarter to bring a 13-point lead into halftime. Toronto kept their composure in the second half as they continued to create separation and slow the game down when Lakehead made the score tight. Hylton was perfect from behind the three-point line and shot over 63 per cent from the field. Three more Blues hit the double-digit point plateau. First-year guard Mikey Ballout had 14 points on 40 per cent shooting from three. Second-year guard Michael Reiss and third-year forward Simeon Jeffers each had 12 points respectively.

For the Thunderwolves, Nishaan Singh had a game-high 20 points while shooting 57 per cent from the field. Christopher Sagl and Adrian Nowak each reached the double-digit point marker with 11 points apiece.
