CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: OUA ROWING

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues rowing teams are back on the water at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course this weekend for the 2026 OUA Rowing Championships, hosted by Brock University from Oct. 30-31.

Putting in a tremendous effort at last year's provincial showcase, the U of T women captured team bronze while the men finished in fifth overall. The team results were buoyed gold in the women's LW8+ and bronze in the men's LW2x.

The podium results have continued into 2026, led by fourth-year Varsity Blues veteran Jack Bon. A leader on the team, he has earned podiums at multiple invitationals including silver (Men's 1x) and bronze (Men's 2x) at the Brock Invitational and double bronze (Men's 1x, Men's 2x) at the prestigious Head of the Trent. Meanwhile, fellow Varsity Blues veteran Youssef El Mays has also added international experience to his resume competing for Team Lebanon at the 2026 Asian Games earlier this semester.

Shifting to the women, Master of Information and Master of Museum Studies graduate student Sophie Corradini will be looking to add to her collection of OUA medals. Since joining the Blues in 2019 Corradini has earned OUA gold, silver and bronze as a member of the women's LW8+ crew, as well as an OUA bronze in the LW2x and LW1x. She additionally captured national bronze in the LW1x at the Canadian University Rowing Championships.

Oars will hit the water beginning the morning of Friday, Oct. 30 for novice events, followed by the varsity heats that afternoon. Championship finals are slated for Saturday, Oct. 31.
